Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4th July 2026
Effective date: 4th July 2026
This Privacy Policy describes the policies of Modera Health Limited, the company behind Stirr.
Email: hello@moderahealth.co.uk
This policy covers the collection, use and disclosure of the information we collect when you use the Stirr app and, where applicable, the Stirr movement device. By accessing or using the Service, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not consent, please do not access or use the Service.
We may modify this Privacy Policy at any time without prior notice and will post the revised policy on the Service. The revised policy will be effective 180 days from when it is posted, and your continued use of the Service after that time will constitute your acceptance of the revised policy. We therefore recommend that you periodically review this page.
-
Information We Collect
We will collect and process the following personal information about you:
- Name
- Email address
- Movement preferences and how gentle a rhythm you'd like
- Your working hours and nudge schedule
- Session activity (which movement prompts you begin or skip)
- Notification preferences and device information for push notifications
- Where you use the Stirr device: motion and stillness data from the sensor, used to time nudges
- Usage analytics and interaction data with the app
-
How We Use Your Information
We will use the information that we collect about you for the following purposes:
- Delivering short, guided movement sessions at the right moments of your day
- Sending timely nudges to break up long stretches of sitting
- Setting up and maintaining your account and preferences
- Providing customer support and assistance
- Improving the app and device, and developing new features
- Occasional product updates and communications about Stirr
- Analytics to understand usage patterns and how well the Service works
If we want to use your information for any other purpose, we will ask for your consent and will use your information only on receiving that consent, and then only for the purpose(s) for which consent is granted, unless we are required to do otherwise by law.
-
Retention of Your Information
We will retain your personal information for 90 days to 2 years after your account becomes idle, or for as long as we need it to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected as detailed in this Privacy Policy. We may need to retain certain information for longer periods, such as record-keeping in accordance with applicable law, or for other legitimate reasons like enforcement of legal rights and fraud prevention. Residual anonymous and aggregate information, which does not identify you directly or indirectly, may be stored indefinitely.
-
Deleting Your Account
You can delete your account at any time directly within the Stirr app — you don't need to contact us first. Open your account settings and choose Delete my account.
When you delete your account, we permanently remove your account and the personal information associated with it — including your name, email address, movement preferences, nudge schedule and session activity — from our active systems. Any motion data recorded by the Stirr device that is linked to your account is deleted along with it. This deletes your account entirely; it is not a temporary deactivation.
We may retain a limited amount of information for no longer than required where the law obliges us to, or where it is necessary for legitimate reasons such as fraud prevention or the enforcement of legal rights. Copies held in routine backups are removed on our normal backup cycle, and residual anonymous or aggregate information that does not identify you may be retained.
If you would prefer, you can also ask us to delete your account by writing to hello@moderahealth.co.uk, and we will action your request in accordance with applicable law.
-
Your Rights
Depending on the law that applies, you may have the right to access, rectify or erase your personal data, receive a copy of it, restrict or object to its processing, ask us to port your personal information to another entity, withdraw any consent you provided, lodge a complaint with a statutory authority, and such other rights as may be relevant under applicable laws. To exercise these rights, you can write to us at hello@moderahealth.co.uk. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.
You may opt out of product marketing, push notifications, or the personalisation we carry out to tailor your movement sessions by writing to us at hello@moderahealth.co.uk or by adjusting your settings within the app.
Please note that if you do not allow us to collect or process the required personal information, or you withdraw consent for the required purposes, you may not be able to use the parts of the Service for which your information was sought, including personalised nudges and sessions.
